Now It's Who's Fault? President Or Senators

When The Bush Meat Decided To Hunt The Hunter Himself.

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari sent his first two executive bills to the Senate since January 2016 seeking to prohibit money laundering and criminal activities in the country. These bills have not read let alone passing first reading.
Our gluttonous Senators resumed from recess and suggested selling off our assets. I still think father Magu hasn't mobbed up all stolen funds yet
The bills are:”The Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Bill, 2016″ and “The Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters Bill, 2016.”

Updated September 21, 2016

The Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to reshuffle his cabinet.

Mr Ekeremadu is suggesting the redeployment of the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun and the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udo Udoma, from their present ministries.

The Senator made the call as the Senate begins debate on the state of the economy.

Senator Ekweremadu claimed that he was not impressed with the performance of the Ministers of Finance and Budget and National Planning.

He believes they will perform better in other ministries.

Ban Of Food Items Importation

However, some other lawmakers are also calling for caution as regards the recommendation made by the Senate president on the sale of government assets.

Lawmakers are also asking the government to increase spending and look for how to expand the country’s sources of foreign exchange.

Few other lawmakers have also asked the government to ban the importation of food items such as milk, sugar, palm oil, frozen fish and clothing.

The Senate will for two days hold debate on the state of the economy and make recommendations to the executive on measures to solve the economic challenges confronting the country.

Senator Bukola Saraki is hopeful that sale of assets would calm investors and stabilise the economy
Nigeria’s economy slipped into recession few weeks ago, with a report of the National Bureau of Statistics showing that the Nation’s Gross domestic Product contracted by 2.06% in the second quarter of 2016.

According to the report, the decline has caused the Naira to get weaker while lower oil prices dragged the oil sector down.

The output shrunk by 0.36 in the first quarter.

During the quarter, nominal GDP was 2.73% higher at 23.48 million Naira at basic prices.

This growth was lower than the rate recorded in the second quarter of 2015 by 2.44% points.

The situation, has become glaring to Nigerians, with the cost of food items rising, has continued to draw attention from different sectors of the economy.

The Senate President had in a message to Nigerians during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration stressed the need for Nigerians to pray for peace and accelerated recovery of the nation’s economic.

He asked Nigerians to remain steadfast and committed to the cause of one, united and developed country.

He observed that despite the current economic challenges, the country and its people had all that was required to come out better and stronger.

On Monday, however, he suggested that the executive should raise capital from the sale of government assets and other sources to shore up reserves.

Senator Saraki made this recommendation as the Senate resumed plenary after a seven weeks’ recess.

Addressing lawmakers, Senator Saraki said that the sale of assets would calm investors, discourage currency speculation and stabilise the economy.

He recommended part sale of the NLNG Holdings, reduction of government share in upstream oil joint venture operations and sale of government stake in financial institutions.

Buhari Invites U.N As Negotiator For Chibok Girls’ Swap

Channels Television.
Updated September 22, 2016

The President, Muhammadu Buhari says Nigeria would welcome intermediaries from the United Nations as a show of commitment, to swapping the abducted Chibok girls with Boko Haram fighters in custody.

President Buhari told the United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, during a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the 71st UN General Assembly in New York.

In a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adeshina, “The challenge is in getting credible and bona fide leadership of Boko Haram to discuss with,” the President said.

“The split in the insurgent group is not helping matters. Government had reached out, ready to negotiate, but it became difficult to identify credible leaders. We will welcome intermediaries such as UN outfits, to step in.”

The President reiterated that the teachings of Boko Haram were far from being Islamic, as neither Islam, nor any other religion, advocates hurting the weak and innocent.

“The fact that they kill men, women, children, and other people wantonly, and shout Allahu Akbar (God is great) shows that they do not know that Allah at all. If they did, they would not shed innocent blood,” President Buhari said.

He thanked Ban Ki-Moon for the moral and material support given to Nigeria, which has enabled the country surmount many of the challenges facing her.

In his response, the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, congratulated President Buhari on the anti-corruption war, declaring: “You are highly respected by world leaders, including myself. Your persona has given your country a positive image.”

He said the UN recognized the achievements of the Buhari administration against Boko Haram, urging that human rights be upheld always, to prevent a repeat of the scenario being witnessed in Syria.

Ban Ki-moon also thanked the Nigerian leader for his commitment to issues on climate change, adding that the government should “own the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” for the good of its citizens.

Why I Will Never Forget The Day I Wrote My PostUTME Exam! - Via Kingstechs

Stepping out, that faithful morning, in the

month of August with The University of Benin

in mind, to scatter the much awaited PUME,

little did I know that a very unpleasant event

was going to take shine away from my Pume.

Immidiately i entered the school premises, I

quickly folded my printed pume slip that was

visible from the back pocket and hid it out of

sight, smell and touch. This was simply

because, i didn't want a situation where, I

had to choose between the exam that brought

me here, and using my Kung-fu skills to

destroy the idiot that addressed me as

"Jambito". So to avoid casualties and potential

loss of human lives, I avoided making any

move that gave the impression I was a

Jambite.

I was so committed to keeping my vow that,

when a Jambite like myself approached me for

direction towards ICT center, i unknowingly

directed him towards a bushy dead end

where, according to my now roomates, all you

needed was a mere five steps to burst out in

Ghana.

I got to my venue and heard some students

lamenting on how we needed our

original slip to be allowed into the hall. The

thought of dashing Jamb 1k so early in the

morning ontop the 43 they gave me in Use of

english almost drove me to tears. The moment

I stepped foot into the complex close to Main

gate, all the cafe owners and their agents who

have been specially trained to convince you

on why at-least a photocopy a day increases

your life span, descended on me. All i kept

hearing was "Correct guy, come photocopy ur

and pume slip for my shop".. 10 were

dragging my Leg to the North, 15 were busy

with my arm, pulling it to far West. I didn't

know which was more painful: the fact that I

was getting ripped apart from different

directions, or that it didn't take these people

seconds to expose the secret i swore to protect

with my life the moment i hid my pume slip

at Main gate.

We were soon seated at the venue, Mtn

Digital library. The exam was CBT and the

room had more than enough computers to

service us. The Library was lavished with air

conditioners which were now tirelessly

working round the clock to cool my

aggravated temper. My stomach began to

make this funny noise. "Abeg oh! Behave ur

self. Today is a very important day" I warned

silently, pinching my intestine to send a clear

message that I wasn't in the mood for mind

games. It was when I heard the same noise

seconds later, only this time, twice as loud, I

realised this was an alarm that could only be

snoozed by the toilet. The toilet wasnt too far

from the entrance so when i entered, I

couldn't shhit in peace all cos I was afraid the

noise my poo was going to create would draw

attention or worst of all, disrupt the network

signal we were going to use for the exam.

What will i tell the VC and the disciplinary

committee? ..

So I did my thing codedly, and on coming out,

I saw this fine yellow paw paw girl cat-

walking into the same toilet I just left looking

like a scene from AMC's "The walking dead".

Instantly, i knew she wasn't going to make it,

so i bowed my head and silently prayed

Heaven accepts her soul. I came back into the

hall feeling relieved and in no time, we were

done with the exam which lasted for 60mins.

Asides the over sabi seated next to me who

nearly used his heavy duty rock of ages 12th

century caterpillar boot to switch-off my

computer, there was no other indication

during the course of the exam that suggested

my village people sneaked thier way into the

exam hall to monitor my progress.

I was seated at the back in the shuttle bus

that was to take me home when my stomach

made this noise that sounded like i had DJ

Jimmy jat and Khaled trapped in my bowels &

they were protesting their release via music.

The next thing i felt, was something trying to

run out of my jeans from the back...

Something familiarly unpleasant. Oh shiiit!!

I ran out of the Bus that was yet to get filled.

My destination, a tutorial center opposite the

school gate. I got there and was told they

didn't have a toilet and before I could ask

them if they had an anus, an elderly man

directed me to a transport company just

outside. I got there and the Manager pleaded

with me that somebody just took the key. At

this point, I was already sweating...sweating

profusely. My vision was getting blurred and i

could feel the poo forcefully trying to escape

with a very very strong warning "If you try

run ehn, we go fall comot yakata. So respect

yasef and walk like a gentleman".. I wanted to

run to the next plaza but respected the shiit's

command. Afterall, I was the one being held

at gunpoint.

I forgot shame ever existed and kept pleading

from shop to shop but kept hearing the same

"No Key" story. It was that day I knew what

Brother Oghenevare Jeremiah went through

when he said in chaper 17 verse19 that, "The

heart of man is desperately wicked". If an

Angel had appeared and asked i choose

between "automatic Heaven and a toilet", the

answer would have been pretty obvious. I can

always work my salvation later, the legal way.

I was this close to squatting in the middle of a

busy street to offload, while making sure my

head was wrapped in a black nylon. Afterall,

nobody will see my face, and para-venture the

street people broke in a hot pursuit, not even

my shadow shall thy see,for my legs shall

carry thee far far away before thy caputureth

me. But just when I lost all hope and wanted

to collapse and die, I saw a light at the end of

the tunnel. For the book of Mathew 7:7(New

living translation) says" "Keep on asking, and

you will receive what you ask for. Keep on

seeking, and you will find". Brother

Oghenetega Matthew was indeed right,

because, right in front of me, less than a

kilometer away, was what I seeked.

I met this fair pretty lady of average height at

her Mother's shop, realyed my predicament

and she told me using their toilet wasnt't an

option, as her Dad was around. Rather, she

showed me their Backyard where I could do

my thing. I couldn't believe my ears. I nearly

broke down in tears of appreciation, but held

my tears halfway, cos considering how high

my body pressure was, coupled with how

swollen skinny me now looked,it wouldn't

come as a surprise if the space meant for

tears has since been occupied by my

desperate poo.

I jogged into the big compound and found a

perfect spot behind this harvested plantain

tree, pulled my jean, but as I was about to

drop, I saw this mighty elephant Dog charging

toward me. Jisoooos! It all happened so fast. I

wanted to run but was relieved when I saw a

chain restraining it. I changed location just to

be safe should incase the dog manages to

convince the chain to let it go. I squatted, and

the moment the first came out, I felt a feeling

no word could describe. I was weeping and

shiiting. Tears of joy. I began offloading and farting at the same time, but the Dog was

looking visibly pissed by that action. It barked

in rage, louder and louder with every fart, and

at a point, I knew it was going to lose it's

voice if it didnt accept defeat. The Dog

eventually threw in the towel and kept quiet

when it was clear i had a battalion of stored

farts in my bowels eager to keep me in the

lead.

I already had a plan mapped out should the

Dog's barks draw the pretty lady's Dad's

attention to the backyard. Use my rubber

band as catapult, shiit as stone & temporarily

blind him just to give me enough time to fly

the fence and continue shitting in the next

compound before he even gets the opportunity

to shout "Thief Thief". But thank God, he

never came. My idea of fame didn't include

being dragged Unclad around a street in that

hot afternoon with poo smeared all over my

body. That's not my portion in Jesus name.

I was done and went to meet the pretty lady.

Funny enough, I was beginning to feel

ashamed after the spirit of shiiit left me. I

thanked her severally, then brought out my

wallet and gave her 500naira as a token of my

sincere appreciation but she refused. I tried to

convince her, but she still held her ground. So

I dropped the money on the table, took

something worth N50naira and walked away a

happy man before she could even protest.

hmm what a day

WELCOME BACK SPEECH BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE, FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA, HIS EXCELLENCY, SENATOR (DR) ABUBAKAR BUKOLA SARAK

WELCOME BACK SPEECH BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE, FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA, HIS EXCELLENCY, SENATOR (DR) ABUBAKAR BUKOLA SARAKI (CON) TO SENATORS OF THE 8TH SENATE ON RESUMPTION FROM A SENATE ANNUAL RECESS ON TUESDAY, 20 SEPTEMBER, 2016.
Protocol:
Distinguished colleagues, I am greatly pleased to welcome you back to the hallowed Chamber of the Senate after our annual recess. To our Muslim colleagues, I wish you all Eid Mubarak.
I hope that the recess has afforded us the opportunity to reconnect with our constituencies and to reflect on the great task that lies ahead of us.
During this years Sallah as it is my tradition, I had close interaction with a cross section of my people in Kwara Central including, the aged, youths, market women, and leaders of thought. I believe many of you did the same. I recall unforgettably, how one of the women came straight to me with a look of utter desperation and all she could mutter out was, please our Senator, do what you can to put an end to this suffering, it is becoming unbearable. I don’t know what your experience was, but if your experience mirrored mine, then the challenge before us could not have been made clearer. The words of this woman reverberated across the hall with such unison that it was impossible to under estimate the desperation in the land. In the last couple of days, I have interacted with many of you here, and it has become even clearer to me that the situation is virtually the same all across the country.
During my interaction which I described above, I remember trying to explain to my people that this kind of thing does not happen overnight; that the seeds for the condition that we suffer from today must have been planted by past administrations that refused to do what was necessary. However, I soon realized that my people are not so interested in how we got here or who to blame for our current situation. They only wanted to know that government has plans to get them out of this current predicament. To them, the only explanation that makes sense at the moment is that which puts food on the table, reduces price of rice, garri, salt, sugar, meat and saves jobs.
Yes, the collapse in oil prices from over $100 per barrel to about $48 recently meant the Nigerian economy would experience serious challenges. However, low sovereign savings have compounded our situation with FX reserves having declined from over $65bn in 2007 to about $30bn by 2015. The implications of this is that we must do something drastic and quick to restore confidence back into the economy and get people investing and spending again if we are to end the despair in the land.
It is no longer news, that the National Bureau of Statistics confirmed that the Nigerian economy has drifted into recession. With GDP growth in the second quarter of 2016 at -2.06% following a decline of 0.36% in the first quarter, the Nigerian economy has had two consecutive quarters of economic contraction.
It is clear to me that when people are desperately hungry, what they need is leadership with a clear vision; leadership whose daily actions reflects the very urgency of the people’s condition. Therefore, our response to the current challenge must be dictated by the urgency of the hardship that the people suffer on a daily basis. I say this to urge us that we must have an urgent debate on the way forward. But in having this debate we must resist the temptation of drowning the debate with apportioning blames that will neither bring solutions to the problem or reduce the cost of rice, maize or oil in the market. Rather this debate must be solution driven, it must be people oriented and less political.
Distinguished colleagues, the simple question for our debate must be; how do we tame the widespread hunger in the land? How do we save our businesses from collapse? How do we save jobs for the majority and create even a lot more? Only a few months ago, Naira was exchanging to the dollar at 200; today it is approaching 500. How do we

Jamb Registrar Ishaq Oloyede Lists Fresh 8 Conditions Institutions Must Stick To In Admitting Students

ishaq-oloyede28129.jpg

Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Ishaq Oloyede on Friday said the agency will ensure candidates are not mistreated by their preferred universities.

He also listed eight conditions that tertiary institutions must follow when admitting students.
Mr. Oloyede spoke at Baze University, Jabi, Abuja at the first Extraordinary Technical Committee meeting on 2016 Admissions to First Choice Institutions.

He said the only difference in this year’s admission process is the policy that there should be no written post-UTME test.
Mr. Oloyede insisted that as a referee, his agency would not allow arbitrariness by institutions in the admission process.

“JAMB will resist such arbitrariness and illegal introduction of extraneous factors which were not contained in the published advertisement made available to the candidates.

“We should be able to explain to every Nigerian child who had applied for admission, why s/he was not admitted into his/her institution of choice,” he said.

According to him, the right of Senate or Academic Board of each institution on admissions of candidates is subject to the following conditions-

a. Guidelines stipulated by proprietors of the institutions

b. 60:40 (Science/Art) ratio for conventional universities
c. 80:20 (Science/Art) ratio for non-conventional universities

d. 70:30 (Technology/Non-technology) ratio for National Diploma Awarding Institutions

e. Use of 2016 JAMB, UTME results’ print-out for all candidates

f. Adherence to published subject combinations of various courses as specified by the Senate/Academic Board and included in the 2016 JAMB brochure
g. Adherence to the 2016 Admissions quota as prescribed by the Regulatory Bodies (NUC, NBTE, NCCE)
h. (For Federal universities) The quota stipulated by the Federal Executive Council concerning Merit, Catchment and Educationally less developed states, should be complied with.

Mr. Oloyede stated that the deadline for approved institutions’ admission panels was still November 30, 2016.

He also said the second Technical Committee Meeting would take place at Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri, Imo state on November 14, 2016.

Recession: Saraki Takes Buy-Made-In-Nigeria Campaign To Manufacturers

In furtherance of his resolve to promote Made in Nigeria products as one of the ways out of the current economic recession, Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Monday assured the nation's manufacturers that the National Assembly would do all it takes to ensure maximum patronage for their goods and services by government agencies and Nigerians alike.
According to Saraki who spoke while receiving the President of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Dr. Frank Udemba Jacobs, who led other members of the executives of the group on a visit to his office in Abuja, the Senate will not rest until the country overcomes her present economic hardship occasioned by the recession.
He said apart from the Public Procurement Act which has been amended by the Senate to drastically reduce the time wasted in the process of procurement and award of contracts by the Federal Government, the Senate has also amended the Railways Act and made provision for private investment in the sector.
He added that the National Assembly will continue to enact relevant legislation to fast-track the diversification of the economy by the executive as well as to ensure stability in government's economic policies.
Saraki, according to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sanni Onogu in Abuja, said: "We are very concerned about the situation of the economy. It is our primary focus for the next few months and I am sure with the support of everybody, we will get the country out of it.
"We will do whatever is necessary to find solution to the crisis because Nigeria comes first. We are not afraid to say what we have to say. Where we find ourselves today, we cannot continue to apportion blames but to search for solutions. And your coming here is part of our search for solution. We will take some of your suggestions and we will make sure we work together.
"I want to assure you that this 8th Senate is very committed to work very closely with MAN and to support local industries. Before your visit, we have been very strong on how to revive the economy. We have engaged the Nigerian Economic Summit Group. We have engaged with the private sector to come out with bills that will support the economy of the country. We are looking at how to improve on Bills that affect doing business.
"As you must have known that we have passed the bill on procurement law, an amendment with two areas of interest. One area was to shorten the time it takes for government to process the award of contracts.
"You will find out that this is one area where so much time is lost and by the time the budget is approved they will go to tender the bills and in the process, you will find out that almost the entire year is gone. What we are hoping is that the House of Representatives will concur with us so that the law will be effective immediately.
"Also, part of what we passed in that law is to make it compulsory for government to patronize locally produced goods. This is the practice you see in other countries," Saraki said.
Earlier, President of MAN, Dr. Frank Udemba Jacobs, urged the National Assembly to ensure stability of relevant government's economic policies like the Export Expansion Grant (EEG) through appropriate legislation.
Dr. Jacobs commended the diversification drive of the present administration adding that efforts should be geared towards focusing on the non-oil sector.
He also called for appropriate manufacturing financing that would enable manufacturers to access loans with five per cent interest rates as well as the inclusion of local content in locally produced goods.

JAMB Sets New Deadline For Admission Into Universities And Polytechnics

Students seeking admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria have been given a lifeline until Wednesday, November 30, 2016.

According to information released by Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) stated on Friday, September 16, that all admissions to universities, polytechnics and colleges of education should end at the stipulated time.
Speaking at the University of Abuja, venue of an Extra-Ordinary Technical Committee Meeting on 2016 Admissions to First Choice Institutions, the JAMB boss noted that the board was ready to attend to authentic requests of everyone involved in ensuring the efficiency of the examination body. While informing that other admission processes remain intact, the registrar explained that there should be no post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) test and that institutions which were yet to complete their requirements for the 2017 brochure to do so.

The Consumer Protection Council CPC Warns Nigerians Against Use Of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 - Read Reasons

samsung-g7.jpg

The Consumer Protection Council on Sunday warned against the use of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 following reports of explosion of dozens of the product while being charged.

The council said the advice against the use of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phone was an interim measure to protect its Nigerian consumers pending when Samsung Electronics West Africa would provide information on the full status of its compliance with the global directive of Samsung on the recall of the product.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the council said a letter had been written to the company directing it to provide details of its compliance with the directive within seven days.
The letter signed by the Director-General, Mrs Dupe Atoki, read in part, “The attention of the council has been drawn to media reports indicating that the lithium-ion batteries for Samsung Galaxy Note 7 are prone to catching fire.
“The said faulty batteries have reportedly caused the phone to explode in 35 separate incidents, sometimes bursting into flames, damaging property and leaking dangerous chemicals.
“Some Nigerian consumers may already have purchased the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 for personal or other uses.
“You are, therefore, directed to, within seven days of the receipt of this letter, furnish the Council with information on the full status of your compliance with the global directive of Samsung to recall the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 forthwith, including other measures you may have taken to safeguard the safety and interest of Nigerian consumers in this respect.”
Commenting on the situation, Atoki, according to the statement, said Nigerian consumers who had purchased the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 should, as an interim measure, stop using the phone forthwith.
She said, “While awaiting the response of Samsung Electronics West Africa Limited in order to determine the number of affected consumers in Nigeria, there is an urgent need to avert whatever dangers that may be associated with the use of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 in Nigeria.”

Herbert Macaulay

marcurlay.jpg During the 1920s, a period in Nigerian history associated with the beginning of political agitation for self-rule, Macaulay became a leading figure in the first generation of Nigerian Nationalists. In 1921, Macaulay passionately led protests in Lagos over water rates, land issues, and mishandling of the railway finances. In 1922, he helped a Lagos chief in his legal battle with the colonial government who had forcefully takensome of his land for government purposes. The highest court in England heard the case and returned the land to the chief. This victory inspired Macaulay to establish in 1923 Nigeria’s first political party, the Nigerian National Democratic Party whose memberswere the first to sit in the Legislative Council. The Nigerian National Democratic Party dominated Nigerian politics throughout the 1920s until the late 1930s. However in 1934, the NNDP lost its dominant position to newly organized student groups such as the Nigerian Youth Movement. In order to avoid the demise of the party, Macaulay’s NNDP joined forces with the Nigerian Youth Movement to form the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons, NCNC. The NCNC led by Macaulay was not a political party, it was a nationalist organization designed to advocate for an independent Nigeria. Herbert Macaulay did not live to see the attainmentof independence in 1960. He died in Lagos at the age of 81 on May 7, 1946.

WHEN I DIE BY:OODUA BALOGUN KAKANFO(OBK)

When I die, bury me with the dirt (eruku) from OYo Ile, where Mother Earth combs her hair with a spiritual hoe. Where Oranmiyan is a monument, over looking the palace of the OYO King, that commands death (Alafin, Iku baba yeye).
No one should shed tears. Tell my Mothers (Iyami), who flies in the twilight not to mourn. Instead, they should puke praises and prayers and recite my eulogy (Oriki) from their sack of wisdom underneath their old fragile stomach (ikun).
Omo Onikoyi O!, Omo Akin (Son of the brave) have nothing to fear, but himself. Omo Ogun (Warrior) have no where to run to, but to the spiritual shelter of his Fathers in Orun (land of my dead fathers in the Sun).
If you felt my heat. I am your next of kin. If you are drench in your own sweat. I am raining. If the Earth under your feet collapses. It was my quake. If you are looking for me. Look ahead, I am like the morning Sun, miles away but always sitting over your head.
I will not call myself, "Ikumapayi" (the one death will pardon) because no matter how long and stout a neck is, on top of it must sit a head. Odua Balogun Kakanfo, a Yoruba man, is one of a kind. I saw yesterday's night, I am looking at today's morning Sun. Even death can not deny this.
